About the Long Buckby Ukulele Group
The Group is based in the village of Long Buckby, Northamptonshire, UK. It was formed in January 2017 and brought together a group of like minded folk with a desire to play the ukulele.
Many of the Group had never picked up a musical instrument before, and the challenge to learn this beautiful instrument was too much. We began by meeting at each others houses around the village, at first just a handful, but word of the Group grew and it was not long before there were a dozen enthusiasts meeting 2-3 evenings each month. Their appetite for new songs grew with the Group.
After just over one year that the Group felt confident enough to perform in public, and since then have jumped at every opportunity to entertain others. Details of their many performances can be found on that page.
By late 2019 the Group numbered 16, too many to fit in members’ front rooms and so the decision was taken to hire the Castle Room at the Long Buckby Community Centre and to meet regularly every Wednesday evening.
Membership of the Group is by Invitation Only, but if you are interested please Contact Us.
The Group also welcomes contact from other Ukulele Groups, many if whom provide inspiration on songs to the Group.
